Our engineering work transforms the built environment, connects communities and goes beyond the 9-5. We want to make a positive impact on the communities in which we work, in the built environment around us, in our decision making, and in the opportunities, we create for clients, employees and the wider community.

We reach out to individuals, organisations and groups to help them reach their potential, going beyond engineering. Be that sponsorship, mentoring or internship opportunities, we want to utilise our expertise and our resources to continue to build better for ourselves and for others.

Sponsorship

In the first of many partnerships, it is a privilege to be able to currently sponsor Megan Docherty and Jayla Kepler, two amateur Scottish golfers, who have secured three-year sponsorship deals with xburo.

This sponsorship investment is part of our drive and commitment as a company to invest in up-and-coming sporting talent.

We see the world of sport and the world of engineering as a good collaboration, where we can give sportspeople the opportunity to pursue their goals in the pursuit of excellence.

Megan Docherty

Megan Docherty is our first amateur golfer to be sponsored by xburo as our rapid expansion has allowed us to support her to pursue her dream of becoming a professional golfer.

The 19-year-old signed a three-year sponsorship deal and is our first sports sponsorship – part of our commitment to have a greater impact and bring social value; going beyond engineering.

Megan, from Bishopbriggs, is working towards a degree in finance at the University of Chattanooga in Tennessee while juggling her busy golf schedule. She successfully landed a full academic scholarship allowing her to combine her love of golf with her studies over a four-year period.

Now in the 2nd year of her studies, xburo’s financial support contributes towards lessons, equipment and travel expenses allowing Megan to focus on her game. She attributes the extra golf lessons to developing her game.

The support devised by George Boswell has helped me to hone my skills. I’m working on getting my scoring average down, particularly looking to make improvements in areas of my game where the coaches and I have identified. xburo’s sponsorship directly contributes towards supporting my training. It means my focus is on the game and being sponsored allows me to do this.

Travelling throughout the year, Megan has competed internationally against amateur golfers from across Europe including Holland, Germany, Spain, Turkey, Italy, and Denmark in a number of tournaments.

Believing that there are synergies between business, teamwork, and the power of sport, Megan is a great example of hard work and teeing up has given us a great insight into elite sports as well as gaining Megan’s support in xburo’s annual golf event.”

Jayla Kepler

Following the success of our first sports sponsorship, we welcomed Jayla Kepler, an up-and-coming pupil from Clydeview Academy. The three-year sponsorship deal allows Jayla to support her ambitions long term, allowing her to focus on her game and strengthen her competitive golf so she can reach her potential.

Practical support will be given to the talented young amateur golfer such as assisting her with lessons, equipment and travel to competitions during the season.

“Having met with Jayla, it is obvious she has a winning mentality which coincides with our drive for success. With competition in women’s golf strengthening year-upon-year and more female professional golfers coming through, we wanted to support Jayla’s aspirations. We will continue to work hard to do our part to assist talented golfers like Jayla on their journey. While Jayla’s studies will always come first, we will be there for the golf!”

The 13-year-old amateur took up the sport just two years ago and quickly got a bug for it. In this short time, she has achieved a handicap of 11, was the winner of the West of Scotland Bronze Championships, and is the first female to reach the junior and ladies’ tournament in the history of Greenock Golf Club.

Jayla joins Megan in our sports sponsorship programme and is part of our commitment to go beyond engineering, adding to our social value.

Corporate Sponsorship

Since the launch of xburo, we have supported a number of sporting clubs including Cambuslang Rugby Club and Glasgow High Kelvinside Rugby Football Club (GHK RFC), Kirkliston Football Club, the Boyle School of Irish Dancing, as well as supporting city-wide events through sponsorship and attendance of key events and charity sponsorship.

Charity

Our engineers frequently go above and beyond for others to raise awareness and funds for charities including Motor Neurone Disease, My Name’s Doddie Foundation, and Spifox. We embed our Environmental Social Governance (ESG) in our engineering work and our teams often go beyond engineering in their activities for xburo and the wider world, which was recognised as winners of ACE Best Small Consultancy of the Year 2024.
